Meaningful Membership

We care deeply about those who are part of our church, and because of that, we take seriously what it means to be a part of Hopewell Baptist.

What is Meaningful Membership?

Church Membership is something that is so often misunderstood and abused. We want to be clear that church membership is not what makes you a Christian, because that only happens by grace through faith in Christ alone. However, we also want to be clear that while knowing Christ as your Savior is the most important thing, membership in a local church is not unimportant. In fact, we believe that the Bible clearly teaches that once one trusts in Christ, then they are part of the body of Christ and they should unite to a visible body of Christ; the local church. Because of this, we are intentional about the membership process, and we emphasize the important responsibility that comes with being part of Hopewell Baptist.

How Do I Become a Member?

We take membership seriously, but we try to make joining as simple as possible. Once you decide you’re ready to join Hopewell, the first step is to make your intentions known to our leadership. After that you’ll have an interview with a Pastor, where you will be asked about your testimony and your desire to join our fellowship. During this time you will also be asked to affirm our Statement of Faith and Church Covenant. Once this is completed, you’ll be presented and voted on by our church body.
